REBUILDING A CLIO JC5

At this point do not build the gears into the LSD body..   The gears must be check separate to determine the LH plate stack

First put the sun gear & outer cup inside the crownwheel.

Replace the Belleville spring washer with a 2.57mm spacer (to replicate the Belleville washer compressed when fitted in the lsd)

Build the plates onto the sun gear

Fit the centre driver-ramps-cross shaft-planet gears

Test the planet gear backlash.

If too much the reduce the plate thickness (normally this 4 plate stack is approx 5.7mm)

If too loose increase the plate thickness.

This is the only adjustment to the LH sun gear / planet gear settings possible.

Then build the LSD as normal and change the preload ONLY with the stack of plates on the RH SW (normally 4 plates, approx 5.9mm).   THE LEFT stack must not be changed. !!!

Finally adjust the RH gear engagement in the centre planet gears with different thickness thrust washers fitted under the gear.

Once gear end float corrected, finally fit the wavey washer.
